PRIMER 55 Part With Bassist, Enlist Temporary Replacement
October 20, 2002PRIMER 55 have parted ways with bassist Kobie Jackson due to "personal and creative problems" and have temporarily replaced him with former 12V NEGATIVE EARTH four-stringer Toomey.
"Due to personal and creative problems, Kobie Jackson has been asked to leave the band," said PRIMER 55 guitarist Bobby Burns in an official statement. "Jason and I wish him all the best. He will be replaced on our upcoming tour by a friend of the band, Toomey. A great, great bass player that we know you'll all love very much.
"P55 has always been a band that runs on pure emotion and nothing else.. some people can handle it, and some can't... That's just the way we do things. Like brothers, sometimes we get along and sometimes we don't… But since we've gotten out of our contract with Island, people have lost sight as to the reason that this band was started in the first place, and that is music... Not money. I'm not saying that I'd never like to make a million bucks, because I think everyone in the world would love that. But that isn't what fuels our fire... The love of our fans is like gold to us... And to Jason and I that is the greatest success..."
Meanwhile, Nashville's 12V NEGATIVE EARTH are temporarily utilizing the services of SHUN bassist Richie Glover before seeking a full-time replacement for Toomey.
The group have lined up the following dates during the coming weeks:
Nov. 08 – Nashville, TN @ The End (w/ASBESTOS)
Dec. 12 – Jackson, TN @ The Legion w/MRS. FLETCHER)
The recording of 12V NEGATIVE EARTH's new EP, "Sinus", has been slightly halted due to the fact that the producer for the project is tied up at the moment in St. Louis. An early 2003 release is expected.
